Construction is ramping up on Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s highly anticipated new B&M dive coaster, and we’ve got your latest aerial update.
What We Can See
As of this week, the following construction milestones are visible from outside the park:
- The main lift hill structure is now approximately 60% complete, with steel supports reaching an estimated 150 feet
- The holding brake section at the top of the first drop is clearly visible — confirming the signature dive coaster “hang and drop” moment
- Foundation work for the mid-course block brake and second half of the layout is underway
- The station building steel framework has been erected
What We Know
Based on permits, track piece deliveries, and insider information, here’s what we can confirm about the new coaster:
- Manufacturer: Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M)
- Type: Dive Coaster (wide, floorless trains)
- Estimated Height: 180-200 feet
- Inversions: At least 3 (Immelmann loop confirmed by track pieces)
- Estimated Opening: Spring 2027
How It Compares
If the 200-foot height estimate proves correct, this would make it the tallest dive coaster in North America, surpassing Yukon Striker at Canada’s Wonderland (223 ft) depending on final measurements. It would join SheiKra and Griffon in Busch Gardens’ dive coaster portfolio.
The location — reportedly in the park’s England section — takes advantage of BGW’s famously hilly terrain, meaning the actual drop could be significantly longer than the lift hill height suggests.
